Beast Kpop Group Introduction

Highlight, formerly known as B2ST or Beast, is a four-membered South Korean boy group. The group was formed in the year 2009 under Cube Entertainment. The original lineup had six members.

Their first EP was “Beast is the B2ST.” Later In 2011, they released “Fiction and Fact,” which was their first full-length album.

Jang Hyun Seung was the first to leave the group as he wanted to pursue as a Solo artist. Subsequently, the other members moved to join the label “Around Us Entertainment” in December 2016.

They changed the group name to Highlight.

Highlight was initially a five-membered group. However, due to numerous legal accusations, Junhyung also left the group in 2019. Thus, the group eventually was left with only four members: Doojoon, Yosoeb, Kikwang, and Dongwoon.

Beast Current Members

Doojoon

Doojoon is the leader of B2ST, now Highlight. He is also the lead rapper, vocalist, and face of the group. His full name is Yoon Doo Joon, and he was born on 4 July 1989.

The current age of Doojoon is 34 years, and his zodiac sign is Cancer. Speaking of his height and weight, he is 179 cm (5’ 10”) tall, and his weight is 66 kg (145 lbs).

Doojoon spent his childhood in Goyang, South Korea, and he was known to be a stubborn kid. Before debuting as a Beast member, he worked under JYP Entertainment.

He is also an actor. He appeared in several dramas including, “All My Love For You” and “Splash Splash Love.”

Yosoeb

Yoseob is the main vocalist of the band. His birth name is Yang Yo Seob. He was born on 5 January 1990 in Seoul, South Korea. Therefore, his current age is 33 years, and he is a Capricorn.

In terms of physique, he is 170 cm (5’ 7”) tall and weighs over 56 kg (123 lbs). Although he is quite fit, he still takes red ginseng capsules to maintain his health. These capsules are supposed to be consumed by older people.

Yonseob used to be the backup dancer of Kikwang. Prior to that, he was a JYP Entertainment trainee. The memories of his pre-debut time are bitter-sweet. Thus, he often cries remembering the struggling days of his life.

Kikwang

Lee Ki Kwang, popularly known by the stage name Kikwang, is the main dancer, lead vocalist, and visual of the Beast K-pop group.

His birthdate is 30 March 1990, and he was born in Naju, South Jeolla Province, South Korea. Being a March-born, his zodiac sign is Aries, and he is currently 33 years old.

In terms of physique, Kikwang is 171 cm (5’ 7”) tall, and he weighs around 58 kg (128 lbs). Earlier, he wore glasses as his vision was less, but later he got lenses.

Kikwang’s hobby is song composition. Therefore, he initially chose to debut as a solo singer named AJ.

To keep himself healthy, he avoids drinking and smoking at all costs, and also seafood as he is allergic to them.

Dongwoon

Dongwoon serves as the lead vocalist and rapper of the band. He celebrates his birthday on 6 June, as his date of birth is 6 June 1991. Thus, his current age is 32 years.

It makes him the youngest in the group, and also the maknae of the band. His full name is Son Dong Woon, and he spent his childhood in Busan, South Korea. By the way, Dongwoon is a Gemini.

Talking of physical attributes, he is 181 cm (5’11) tall, which is the tallest among other beast members. His weight is 64 kg (141 lbs), and his blood type is A.

He appears somewhat silly and immature. However, he is multi-talented. He can speak different languages including Korean, English, and Chinese. He also knows how to play the piano along with violin and electric flute.

Beast Former Members

Junhyung

Junhyung was the main rapper of the band. His full name was Yong Jae-soon, which he later changed to Yong Jyun Hyung.

He was born on 19 December 1989. Thus, he is a Sagittarius, and is currently, 33 years old. His height is 178 cm (5’ 10”), and he weighs around 64 kg (141 lbs).

Junhyung was a former XING member. Also, he was among the top idols to earn the most royalties for his self-composed songs.

However, he left Beast K-pop group after its rebranding as Highlight. It happened on 13 March 2019. He was alleged to be involved in a scandal that afterward led to his departure from the group.

Hyunseung

Hyunseung was the lead vocalist of the band. His full name is Jang Hyun Seung. He was born on 3 September 1989. Therefore, his zodiac sign is Virgo, and he will turn 34 in September 2023.

Speaking of his physical attributes, his height is 177 cm (5’10”), and his weight is 58 kg (128 lbs).

Hyunseung spent his childhood days in Suncheon, South Korea, and completed his education at Dongshin University. Before debuting as a Beast member, he was a YG trainee.

While other beast KPop members chose to move from Cube Entertainment to Around US Entertainment after the contract expiration, Hyunseung renewed his contract on 19 April 2016. Thus, he chose to leave the group and not be a part of Highlight.
